1. Customer: Jitin Singhal;  Reston, VA 20194. Category: Painting – Interior. Work Completed Date: September 08, 2011. Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $6,000.00. Description Of Work: Painted my old house, replaced some broken doors, power washed and stained the deck. Customer comments: Fantastic work. No complaints. From estimate to final completion, I didn’t have any problems. Any question I had, it was promptly answered. As we were going through the work, I noticed additional work needed and asked if that could be done. Andres and Roger were more than accommodative and finished the additional work in the same original time frame. I would certainly hire them again for my new house.

2. Customer: Arthur Dwight;  Germantown, MD 20874. Category: Painting – Interior. Work Completed Date: September 28, 2011. Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $1,830.00. Description Of Work: Painted three bedrooms and one bathroom; walls only in bedrooms and trim and walls in bathroom. Customer comments: HOMM Painting has my ABSOLUTE HIGHEST POSSIBLE ENDORSEMENT! I used to dread searching for contractors because it was so hard to find credible data on contractors. Angie’s list has all but eliminated that fear. I chose Homm for an estimate because of the terrific ratings they received and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was estactic. Andres Matheu was responsive and professional through every step of the process. His estimate was thorough and the price was the best I have seen for painting … ever. His crew showed up on time, finished on time and did an outstanding job. During the job their was a question about one of the paints I supplied and Andres called me on my cell and got it taken care of completely. There is no question that I will use HOMM for all my painting needs in the future and I will recommend them enthusiastically to anyone who will listen.

3. Customer: Michael Fierro; Alexandria, VA 22304. Category: Painting – Exterior. Work Completed Date: November 04, 2011. Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $9,361.00. Description Of Work: Homm Certified Painting Systems did exterior painting on my house.  It required a lot of scrapping and prep work.  Some carpentry repairs were required (replacement of fascia with PVC, replacement of two rotted window sills, replacement of two front porch pillars) and the work was done very well.  The cost of the repairs was very reasonable. Customer comments:I found them on Angie’s List and received a 10% Angie’s List discount from them. They were very responsive and easy to deal with despite the rainy weather this fall. The quality of their work is good. I had got a lot of quotes and theirs was a good quote. I figured that the cost would grow, and it did grow, but I think that I still got value for what I got done.  I would use them again.

4.  Customer: Robin McKiel; Alexandria, VA 22301. Category: Painting – Interior. Work Completed Date: November 03, 2011.  Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $1,165.00. Description Of Work: They painted the main floor of my home:  my foyer (with high ceiling), living room, home office, ceilings, stairways, and hallways.  They prepped before painting, caulking gaps in trim and repairing cracks and holes in the walls. Customer comments: I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal coupon for $565 to have three rooms painted.  Andres made an appointment to come to my house to measure and plan for the job.  My coupon covered the painting for my living room, home office, and hallway – and then I paid extra for the foyer (with high ceiling), stairways, and another hallway, as well as for the paint itself.  Andres made helpful suggestions for paint type and colors, as I was having difficulty making a decision.  Because of my work commitments, I needed to postpone the work and Andres was very gracious about that.  In the interim, he promptly returned my calls and emails, and scheduled the work at a time convenient to both of us. The day of the job, Omar and his two associates arrived on time, and Omar walked around with me reviewing the details of the job they would do.  They moved the furniture, and covered everything.  They prepped before painting, caulking gaps on trim and repairing cracks and holes in the walls.  Andres stopped by in the afternoon to see how everything was going.  They finished all the painting in one day – two coats of paint, cleaned up and moved furniture back in place.  They even cleaned out the basement set-tub after washing their brushes, and swept my front sidewalk!  They were very professional and I am pleased with their service.

5.  Customer: Nancy Buchholz; Arlington, VA 22202. Category: Painting – Interior. Work Completed Date: November 14, 2011. Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $4,900.00. Description Of Work: They painted six rooms for me, two of them large (14×26).  Homm also finished a wall paper removal task we had started but couldn’t finish.  The two large rooms included a significant amount of built in cabinets and trim.  They did this all in three and half days.  When we asked them to work on a Saturday to help us meet a critical deadline for other stuff we were doing they gladly came and put in a full day’s work.  When we needed them to show up a little earlier one morning so we could get out of the house to make early morning appointments they were here a half hour before that, at 7:30am.  Customer comments: I could not be more satisfied with Homm.  Their painters were fast, very efficient and did tremendous quality work.  Our house now looks fabulous because of the quality work they did.  Mr. Matheiu also helped us with color matching to select the right wall colors to match our new window treatments.  His color selections were absolutely perfect.  The walls look fantastic with our new window treatments.  We will definitely be using Homm again.  Our house will need to be fully painted on the exterior in the spring of 2012.  While I always competitively shop prices and capabilities, I’m sure I will be using Homm again.  Mr. Matheiu is very professional in his work, and his team of painters follow his example.  Because it rained on the first day, we were fortunate to have two teams painting our rooms.  They worked fast, were always polite and made every effort to accomodate any touch-up changes I wanted.

2010 Testimonials

1.  Customer: Benson Chang; Reston, VA 20191. Category: Painting – Interior. Work Completed Date: March 16, 2010. Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $1,842.00. Description Of Work: I contacted Homm to do some repairs to all 3 levels of my home caused by Snowmaggedon 2010 – an ice dam had caused water damage to ceilings and walls. Andres contacted me immediately to come out and do an estimate, using the exact specific paints we had chosen (Benjamin Moore Aura and Natura). He was very accomodating in providing documentation for my insurance company due to this being an insurance claim. Once I was ready to start work, he was able to schedule me within a day. A crew of 3 headed by Omar came out the first day to do the painting and drywall work in most of the rooms, and Andres stopped by to see how things were going (which was a pleasant surprise). The second day Omar did carpentry for the window sill in the basement and repainted that as well. The moved furniture carefully and cleaned up carefully after themselves. Customer comments: Very well…Omar and his team were very meticulous, and definitely went above and beyond in a couple of areas. He painted some wood trim for me that I had not gotten around to painting myself (about 2 inches or so) and also did a fabulous job refinishing a rather ugly basement window frame, including removing some old silicone waterproofing foam and re-caulking the window. While they were not the cheapest quote I received, their level of service and professionaliism made it worth every penny.

2. Customer: Marion Arkin; Arlington, VA 22207. Category: Painting – Exterior. Work Completed Date: March 16, 2010. Hire Again: Yes. Approximate Cost: $4,300.00. Description Of Work: Painted trim and siding. Repaired or replaced rotted siding and trim. Power washed decks and then sealed/stained them. Painted wrought iron railings. Customer comments: An excellent experience. Andres was responsive and very informed. The crew was prompt and the foreman, Roger, was quick to explain any problem before proceeding. The work was done carefully and neatly and the results are first-rate. Due the the quality of the workmanship and the professionalism of the entire staff, I feel I got real value for the money spent. And my house looks great.

3. Customer: Frank Oelschlager; McLean, VA 22101 Category: Painting – Interior Work Completed Date: June 19, 2010 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $2,149.00 Description Of Work: Prepare surfaces, prime and paint ceilings, walls, trim and window sills, door frames for three rooms: living room, dining room, family room/den. Customer comments: We found Homm through an Angie’s list “Deal of the Day”. We then met with Andres for a scope of work review and proposal. We initially thought the price was a bit higher than expected, but the work done was absolutely worth the cost. These rooms are high use areas for our lifestyle and the walls have taken some abuse over the years since the last painting. The house is also 45 years old and has settled a bit, requiring some surface prep work in addition to basic painting. The job was completed to our satisfaction. Communication with the foreman was very professional and easy, even for mid-job issues we wanted to make sure would be addressed (they all were). The Homm team was conscientious about our home and belongings and did a very professional job. The rooms look great! We will definitely consider using Homm as we look to update other rooms in our house in the future.

4. Customer: Richard Milner; Falls Church, VA 22046 Category: Painting – Interior Work Completed Date: August 25, 2010 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $2,100.00 Description Of Work: Interior painting of daughter’s bedroom, master bedroom w/tray ceiling, library, dining room w/chair rail and molding, family room, powder room and kitchen. All rooms have 10′ ceilings, powder room has fixtures, K/FR/DR/L have crown molding. Customer Comments: Arrived both days on time, nothing broken when they moved furniture, minimal leftover paint drips (literally I can think of 3 spots, all on highly polished surfaces so very easy to remove), two areas in kitchen where masking tape was left on (probably best anyway since the paint might have peeled based on the area they were left). Team leader, Omar, was very professional and helpful. I was having difficult time deciding how to paint Mstr BR, he and I discussed and re-discussed and he helped me make the right decision but never made me feel like he was pushing his preference on me. Price was unbelievable!! I mean, seriously, that many rooms for $2100? Who does that?! Just an overall excellent experience!

2009 Testimonials

Customer: Eric Braun Alexandria, VA 22302 Category: Painting – Exterior Work Completed Date: April 15, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $4,000.00 Description Of Work: We have a brick house with a recent addition in hardy plank. When we bought it, the brick was unpainted. We wanted the entire house painted a single color. Customer Comments: Excellent. I can’t say enough good things about Andres and his crew. His price was very competitive and his attention to detail was noteworthy. Highly professional and communicative. Work was done on time and to high standard. Brick portion of my house was very porous and he covered it well. Very pleased with the outcome. Highly recommend this provider.

Customer: Mary Lane Akers Falls Church VA 22044 Category: Painting – Interior Work Completed Date: December 05, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $2,000.00 Description Of Work: Prep work and painting of kitchen walls, trim, and ceiling and of walls along a staircase. I provided the paint. Customer Comments: Andres came to the house for a quote and understood exactly what we were looking for. He was very professional, prompt in our communications, and was committed to doing quality work. His team arrived on time (there must have 6 painters at one point, but at all times there were at least 3). Andres came by toward the beginning of the day to check on his team. I was appreciative of the protection of our furniture and floors as they worked. They put plastic coverings on all furniture, countertops, and cupboards. The work was very good, especially the trim work–which I believe was done without painter’s tape by some very talented people! There are a lot of small spaces and crevices, which was painted very neatly. Prep work was generally good, but in the end, there is some inconsistency in certain spots with the level of smoothness of the drywall that can be seen in some light. This looks to be due to me using primer to cover up some dark samples we had painted on the wall and some patchwork that Hӧmm had done. I would think a third coat of paint or maybe a layer of primer could have added more consistency throughout. The kitchen was left slightly dusty–maybe they could have given it the once over with a vacuum–but nothing major. I did not request that Hӧmm address either of these minor concerns. I would use Hӧmm again.

Customer: Matthew Clay Arlington, VA 22206 Category: Painting – Exterior Work Completed Date: October 30, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $1,850.00 Home Build Year: 1955 Description of Work: They repainted my front and side steps, and the concrete foundation below my brick house. They first removed the old, peeling paint, and then repainted everywhere, even behind the large bushes in front of the house. Customer Comments: I called to schedule a meeting to discuss the project and I made an appointment within a couple days. The company representative arrived promptly and discussed the project with me in detail. The project had to be rescheduled once due to rain, and communication about the rescheduling was excellent. The work is outstanding. There’s absolutely no mess in the yard from washing away the old paint.

Customer: Lynn Fletcher FALLS CHURCH VA 22046 Category: Painting – Exterior Work Completed Date: October 22, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $3,000.00 Home Build Year: 1999 Description of Work: They painted the trim outside my house, part of the foundation and metal railing. Customer Comments: They provided excellent quality of service and they were one of the lowest priced companies that we got quotes from.

Customer: Christina Patterson Alexandria VA 22304 Category: Painting – Interior Work Completed Date: October 16, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $2,500.00 Description of Work: Moving back into a condo, which had been rented out for several years, I was interested in freshening up the interior with painting throughout. This project included painting the walls for the Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, all Hallways, 2 Bedrooms, and multiple closets. Several old, bi-fold doors and tracks were also removed and disposed of. Customer Comments: Due to the logistics of moving back to the area, I was under some very tight time constraints for starting and completing this project. Hӧmm was very flexible and was able to start the project within 5 days of the original estimate. The project was also competed in half the time estimated (only took 1 day, rather than 2 days).

Customer: Debra Erb McLean, VA 22102 Category: Painting – Exterior Work Completed Date: July 30, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $9,500.00 Home Build Year: 1966 Description Of Work: Exterior painting of trim, doors, window wells and front porch on a large contemporary house. The work included significant repair of rotted wood trim, window well floors. Power wash and staining of large deck. Customer Comments: Andres was very quick to answer my inquiry, within one day. He was able to come out for a walk around and estimate within a couple of days. Normally he gives the estimate on the spot, but given the oddness of the house and the carpentry work required, he took measurements and went back to the office. I had the estimate within a couple of days at the most. He was very thorough in his questions and clearly understood the amount of work that needed to be done on the damaged wood. The estimate was higher than the others I received, but less than I had expected to pay for the painting – and it included the deck cleaning, which was not on my original list. The work was scheduled within a couple of weeks, but he was able to move the schedule up so that it was done more quickly than we expected. The job took about three days. The team on site communicated to us periodically issues that they were having along the way so I felt that they were fully addressing problems that came up. The quality of the work was very good. I selected this group because I felt that they had the carpentry skills to do the job right, and so far as we can tell, they did. Andres was very helpful at various points along the way. We had a little bit of a delay in some clean up, but it was resolved immediately.

Customer: Kathleen Simolunas Arlington, VA 22202 Category: Painting – Interior Work Completed Date: September 04, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $6,000.00 Home Build Year: 1962 Description of Work: Wallpaper removal in upstairs/downstairs hallways, powder room & kitchen including. Repair, prime & paint walls, ceiling & trim in kitchen, powder room, 2 closets, upstairs hall, stair well, downstairs hall and one wall in living room. Customer Comments: Removal of wallpaper took twice as long as expected and cost twice as much. I was made aware of this possibility. The hallways walls had two layers of wallpaper cover with paint. The wall was not properly prepared when the first layer of wall paper was installed. It was a difficulty and messy job. However, the results were beautiful. Three days was the original estimate to do the job providing no unforeseen circumstances. Due to the wallpaper removal in the hall the job went into a fourth day and could have used the fifth day as well. As a result, there were 6 workers here the last day to get the job done as they knew they had a deadline. The down side was that the cleanup was not sufficient and the stairway railing was marred. The company was quick to respond and correct any problems.

Customer: Charles Horn McLean, VA 22101 Category: Painting – Exterior Work Completed Date: June 05, 2009 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $13,000.00 Home Build Year: 1995 Description of Work: HÖMM Certified Painting Systems came out paint the entire exterior of our home, our deck, the front door, and all of the railings. Customer Comments: Andres the owner came out to give me an estimate. As we walked around the house I found more and more things that needed to be painted. He had the lowest of three estimates and was the quickest to respond. Andre was fabulous. He is one of the best contractors that I have ever had the opportunity to work with. The crew did the job very quickly and well. They were just outstanding in every respect. He is straight A’s! I would give him A+ if I could. My husband thinks that we should give him a point of happiness award.
